Equine Retirement Society is dedicated to providing an alternative for horse owners who are faced with the dilemma of what to do with a horse who can no longer compete in its given discipline. Many of these horses while unable to compete due to age, injury, or lack of athletic ability, can still lead a long productive life in a less strenuous capacity. The Centre has first class facilities to care for and retrain - if necessary - horses and ponies which have been neglected or ill-treated. Location: Chile • International League for the Protection of Horses The International League for the Protection of Horses was founded in 1927 by Miss Ada Cole, the main aim being to prevent the ill-treatment of horses exported to Europe for slaughter. At home - in the United Kingdom the ILPH runs four Recovery and Rehabilitation Centres with around three hundred equines undergoing rehabilitation at any one time.
