  Belgian Laekenois - Breed Information
The Belgian Laekenois is considered by most authorities to be the oldest and the foundation of the four varieties of Belgian Shepherd Dogs. The Groenendael, Tervuren and Malinois, as well as the Bouvier and Dutch Shepherds can trace their pedigrees back to the fawn wire-hair Vos I de Laeken who was born in 1885.

Standard of Laekenois - Description of The Breed
By his harmony of form and his majestic carriage the Belgian Shepherd gives the impression of elegance and robustness, which is part of the heritage from the very careful selected dogs and working breed. Besides his inborn ability to guard the flock, he is an exceptional watchdog to house and hearth. If necessary he is, without any hesitation, a determinant defender of his master.

  Malinois Breed Info
A Malinois is a herding breed and has a great need for a job or something to do. They are extremely energetic and need owners who are as well. This breed requires lots of physical exercise and a big fenced yard is ideal. Obedience and agility training, even if you never plan to compete, give the Malinois a mental stimulation they need.
