  Dog Breed Pictures: Sealyham Terrier
The Sealyham Terrier was created in Wales during the mid 1800s. It is a direct ancestor of the Airedale Terrier. Its primary purpose was to hunt otters by way of crawling into their holes and destroying them.

  Sealyham Terrier Breed Standard
The Sealyham should be the embodiment of power and determination, ever keen and alert, of extraordinary substance, yet free from clumsiness. Height at withers about 10½ inches. Weight 23-24 pounds for dogs; bitches slightly less. It should be borne in mind that size is more important than weight. Long, broad and powerful, without coarseness.

Sealyham Terrier Dog - Breed Information
The Sealyham Terrier was developed in the mid-19th century by Captain John Edwardes in the Haverfordwest region of South Wales. He wanted the ideal working terrier to dig out badgers and fox and to accompany his Otterhounds on the hunt. The breed is named after his family estate. The Sealyham Terrier was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1919.
