The Jindo dog is a medium-sized hunting dog with exceptional loyalty to its master. Except for Jindo Island residents, most Koreans have never experienced a purebred Jindo Dog.

•   Korean Jindo Dog, The
The History of the Jindo Dog is unclear, as is the case with many purebreds. Some maintain that the Jindo, named for Korea's Jindo Island ("Jin" is the name of the island, "Jindo" means Jin Island, "Jindo gae" means the dog of Jin Island), where the breed is commonly found, were the dogs that accompanied Mongol Warriors who invaded Korea during the 13th Century.
