  Stabyhoun - Breed Description
The Stabyhoun is a moderately long-haired dog with a longish shape and a characteristic long tail reaching the heels and with the outermost part bending slightly upwards. The Stabyhoun is a medium size dog; the ideal height is 53 cm for the dog and 50 cm for the bitch. The most common colour is black/white, but also brown/white or orange/white colours can be seen.

Stabyhounen have a nice temperament, friendly, tolerant, and willing to please. The dogs are very intelligent and exhibit an independent will which requires obedience training for good control in hunting. These animals love to be in the owner's company and make great companion dogs. The dogs are used in almost all-imaginable forms of training.

Country of Origin: Netherlands. Like the Dutch Wetterhoun, the Stabyhoun originated in Friesland, where he has been known since the 1600s. The Stabyhoun is promoted by Dutch breeders, not only because of his character and abilities but also because of their desire to protect a native breed with a long and proud history.
