Treeing Walker Coonhound Dog - Breed Information
The Treeing Walker was developed from certain strains of English Walker Foxhounds. The credit for the development of the Walker Foxhound goes to two men - George Washington Maupin and John W. Walker. Both men were from Kentucky. Walkers were first registered with U.K.C. as part of the English Coonhound breed.

Treeing Walker Coonhound - Information and Photo
The Treeing Walker is a descendant of the English Foxhound, which Thomas Walker imported to Virginia in 1742. Sometime in the 1800's, a dog known as "Tennessee Lead," a stolen dog of unknown origin, was crossed into the Walker Hound.
