  Yorkshire Terrier Breed Standard
Yorkshire Terrier - that of a long-haired toy terrier whose blue and tan coat is parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail and hangs evenly and quite straight down each side of body. The body is neat, compact and well proportioned. The dog's high head carriage and confident manner should give the appearance of vigor and self-importance.

Yorkshire Terrier Dog - Breed Information
The Yorkshire Terrier is, with his long flowing coat and graceful gait, probably the most glamorous of the smaller (Toy-type) terrier breeds. In the 19th century, however, he weighed about fifteen pounds and had been originally developed to perform the less-than-glamorous but necessary job of controlling the rats in the coal mines and cotton mills of Yorkshire, England.

  Dog Breed Pictures: Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier originated in the Yorkshire area of England. It was created by poachers, crossing the Cairn Terrier and the Maltese Bichon, who were looking for a small tenacious dog to carry out their underhanded ploys.
